Helping impact the lives of people who are living in difficult situations
THE BEGINNING - It started in the early 90s with an idea and the compassion to support those who needed a helping hand. Dr. Peter Limniatis and his colleague Dr. Athanasios Karamitsos decided to come together during the Christmas season and deliver groceries to four families that they knew had come across some difficult times.
THE DESIRE TO GO BEYOND - Knowing that there were many more families struggling to put food on the table and the desire to extend a helping hand beyond the original four families, the two doctors reached out to their community for help. With the generosity of local business owners, donors and volunteers, who donate food items, money and time, the Hellenic Appeal Foundation has grown to help over 150 families around Montreal bi-annually, each December and April, by providing them with food and other needed supplies.
A BETTER FUTURE - The foundation continues to support the less fortunate in our local Montreal communities, knowing that our ability to maintain and increase our resources, has a direct impact on our capacity to help. This is why we continuously look at ways to ensure our continuity and maximize our financial and volunteer resources. Our efforts include maintaining and growing our base of corporate partners, sponsors, donors and volunteers - so that we can sustain and extend the reach of our helping hand to as many vulnerable people in our communities as we can, today and for future generations.
